ARTIST NAME: Bill McFarland
Martha Lockhart has always been impelled to make art and was drawing as soon as she could pick up a pencil. She came to ceramic sculpture late and found it more satisfying to work on art in the round rather than on paper. She has focused on sculpture for the past 20 years. Martha is taken by the sensuality of the human figure and of the emotionally of life and strives to express that through the human and animal figures she creates. Love and caring, boldness and aggression, anguish and ecstasy, engagement and retreat that she feels we are all subject to and affected by throughout our lives. Marthas hope is that her pieces will evoke emotions, memories, experiences, hope, and will remind and illuminate the viewer.
