Karen Johnson

Claude Monet once said that his garden was his greatest masterpiece. That is what Karen Johnson has been doing for the last twenty-five years. Karen works for Greenwood Nursery where she designs gardens, publishes the monthly newsletter “Greenwood Nursery News”, and teaches garden classes for local garden clubs.

Karen is a native of South Carolina, growing up in nearby Fairfield County, the oldest daughter of a country veterinarian. Karen graduated from Lander College with a Bachelors degree in Visual Arts. There she studied photography, print-making, painting, advertising, sculpture, and pottery.

Karen Johnson is inspired by the natural surroundings that she works in everyday. In her Greenwood studio, on Maxwell Avenue, Karen has spent the last two years narrowing her focus to painting in oils, but still enjoys three dimensional projects. Karen and her husband John live in downtown Greenwood with their two cats.
